Great article! I actually saw Part 2 and 4 before the original, and while I love them both, they don’t compare to Part 1 in terms of scariness. I remember actually being surprised as a kid when I finally saw it by how unsettling it was compared to its sequels, which turned Freddy into an anti-hero. I consider it Wes Craven’s best film by far.

I think that, though Sean Cunningham’s only intention in making this film was to cash in on Halloween, it’s a classic in spite of itself and is full of brooding atmosphere, music, and IMO has much better than average acting from the whole cast compared to other slasher films of its era.

Me too, Kirk. Especially the first scene where Nicholas Worth/Kirk Smith strangled the nurse and the audible snap of her bra strap when he peeled the cups from her tits after she stopped kicking.

Pamela Jean Bryant, the April 1978 Playboy Centerfold who portrayed the model, 3rd victim passed away on Dec. 4, 2010 at the age of 51. While perhaps not the greatest actress in cinema she did play quite a few roles and will be missed.

The “Happening” is gawd-awful. Marky Mark gives one of the worst, cringe worthy performances I’ve ever seen, or even thought possible. Zoey Daschnuell is an annoying idiot. The premise ends up being really stupid. The only good part is the suicides, which is done really well. Everything else really sucks. Badly. A lot. A real lot. Its really bad. Like, Three’s Company bad.

I heard that Dale Kalberg who protrayed the nurse, strangled, with the allusion that she was raped post mortem had passed away. If so, it’s a shame. She was a decent actress with great tits.

Who would like this movie: Dead Snow seems geared towards those who like over-the-top, campy, disgusting horror movies. However, I wouldn’t recommend this one because it doesn’t add anything new to the zombie (or horror) genre.
